When it comes to beauty products and specific skincare routines, the choices are abundant. From the 10-step Korean routine to all-natural alternatives, and the perennial debate on exfoliation method or retinol use frequency, the options can be overwhelming. While social media is an incredible source of inspiration, it can be hard to separate genuine recommendations from paid endorsements.
So, how can you effectively navigate this intricate landscape? Ask a girlfriend. Skincare is a highly individual journey, not a one-size-fits-all solution. Seeking inspiration and tips from someone who shares your skin type and concerns can save you both time and money.
These six influencers, aged 28 to 56, share their skincare journeys and how their routines have changed over time. They reveal their best tips and favourite products so you can just click and wait for the parcel to arrive.
FIN: Ihonhoidossa tuotteiden ja erilaisten rutiinien määrä hämmentää kokeneemmankin kuluttajan. Yksi luottaa korealaiseen 10 askeleen rutiiniin, toinen luomukosmetiikkaan, ja väittely kuorinnan tavasta tai retinolin käyttötiheydestä on loputon. Vaikka sosiaalinen media on loistava inspiraation lähde, on aitoja mielipiteitä joskus vaikea erottaa maksetusta mainonnasta.

I really take my skincare routine seriously and I’m always down for trying new clean and innovative products to meet these objectives.”
What is the one product you can’t live without?
Right now, it’s the The Inkey List Tripeptide Plumping Lip Balm (14,00€) that hydrates and repairs lips. I apply it at least 3 times a day and it is always in my bag!

Olya Harris
Olya Harris is the creative director of Vine Los Angeles, creating gorgeous flower arrangements for events, film and TV, Apple TV+’s hit series The Morning Show as her latest credit. The 42-year-old with the most radiant skin says she relies on natural oils in skincare and likes to keep things simple.
FIN: Olya Harris luo työkseen upeita kukaa-asetelmia tapahtumiin, sekä av-tuotantoihin Vine Los Angelesin luovana johtajana. Hänen kädenjälkeään voi ihastella muun muassa Apple TV:n hittisarjassa The Morning Show. 42-vuotias Olya kertoo luonnollisten öljyjen käytön ja yksinkertaisen rutiinin olevan hehkuvan ihonsa salaisuus.
What is your skincare routine?
“It’s very simple. In the AM I use Drunk Elephant Protini™ Powerpeptide Resurfacing Serum (81,00€) with Lactic Acid or La Mer Crème de la Mer Moisturizer (310,00€). I always switch, depending how my skin feels. I also I use La Mer Radiant Skin Tint (95,00€) with SPF30 after my moisturiser. I like to use facial oils in the evening, always have. I love all different natural oils, like rose hip, jojoba, or coconut oil. I don’t really use any eye cream – maybe I should! But sometimes I love a good thick cream like baby balm on the eye and lip area.”
What is your approach to makeup?
“Keep it simple, always. I love an eyeliner for the night and Tom Ford Lip Color (60,00€) in True Coral is definitely my favourite. In the daytime I it’s just a good blush or bronzer.”
What beauty advice would you give to your younger self?
Don’t pluck the eyebrows!! Keep them natural.

Francesca Leering
The 54-year-old model and communications specialist Francesca Leering calls herself a ”wayward rebel who wears her gray hair with endless pride”. She uses Instagram as a platform to promote graceful ageing. ”I like to keep things simple and love to work with only a good day and night cream. I go to my beautician every month for a deep tissue massage.”
What is your routine?
”Cleansing and nourishing for the day, and for the night cleansing and a good recovery cream. If necessary, I give my skin an extra boost with a facial oil or serum to treat certain areas. I have a mild form of rosacea that flares up occasionally. I’m currently using Earths Cure 3-Step Anti-Aging Routine (89,85€) and Mádara Cosmetics. Consistency is key. Sometimes you realise how much a product actually works only when you stop using it. ”
What is your approach to makeup?
”Because of my rosacea, I like a good lightweight foundation. I admire the polished and sculpted looks from younger women, but that’s not really my thing. For me the keywords for a go-to look are: natural and casual. An eye pencil and a good mascara will continue to rule, and when I am going out I accentuate my face by shaping and highlighting contours.”
Which beauty advice would you give to your younger self?
”This I can be very clear about: drink lots of water and avoid stress!”

Kerstin Schaubhut
Kerstin Schaubhut is a 56-year-old German model who loves to share how she celebrates getting older. “I didn’t really understand my skin for many years so didn’t know what was best for it. I tried a lot of things and made a lot of mistakes but now I feel really good and safe with my regime.” She prefers natural and organic skincare with few irritants and lives by a philosophy of ”as little as possible, as much as necessary.”
What is your skincare routine?
”I have rosacea and oily, dehydrated skin, which unfortunately doesn’t make it easy to give my skin the right care. In the morning I use a gentle Cleansing Foam (11,36€) by Cattier, then Rose & Bilberry Toning Gel (76,51€) and Hyaluronic Acid Serum (39,50€), both by The Organic Pharmacy, or Mádara SOS HYDRA Repair Intensive serum (39,90€). My eye area is super sensitive and often irritated and for this area I use Eye Cream Sensitive no. 59 (19,95€) by Bioturm. The last step is Plant Stem Cell Age Protecting Sunscreen SPF 30 (30,50€) by Mádara.
In the evening I do a double cleanse, first with Cattier Gentle Cleansing Milk (12,39€) then the foam. I exfoliate daily with Medik8 Press & Glow Exfoliating Tonic (36,50€) and Novexpert Trio-Zinc Mist (9,95€). I finish off with the same eye cream by Bioturm and Mádara SOS Hydra Recharge Cream (39,90€) which I also use for the décolleté.”
How do you take care of your skin internally?
I want to take care not only of my body, but also of my soul. That’s why I try to live a conscious, reflective life. I’m plant-based and buy only organic food. I practice Kundalini Yoga and Meditation every day for 45 minutes and try to be in the nature as often as possible – biking, walking, running. I love to meet friends for a coffee and cake, explore new destinations and make new experiences. I’m a wanderer!
What is the one product you can’t live without?
It’s Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder (37,86€).
